The Orel 24/7 Unmanned Store would be the first of its kind in Sri Lanka, operating without staff, cash, or waiting times. The store is set up to function in tandem with Orel’s mobile payment solution, OrelPay, and visitors would need to download the app to use the store. Scanning a QR code at the entrance grants access to the store and customers can then freely browse and pick up any item they wish to purchase. Checkout is as simple as placing the selected items on a predefined counter, scanning the item barcodes, and making the payment by scanning a dynamic QR code that updates in real time.
